Tämä proteiini ekspressoituu thyreoideassa, testiksessä ja 25 muussa kudoksessa.  Sillä on CYP-domeeni ja  RNA.ta sitova domeeni ja- aktiivisuus.
CypE estää onfluenssaviruksen replikoitumista ja transkriptiota.
